The most profitable thing a website builder can do is make leaving painful. Lock the export behind a plan, keep the HTML proprietary, make the theme only work here. We decided early not to do any of that.

Everything WUWI Sites publishes is a normal, semantic page — headings, paragraphs, lists, links — not a wall of generated divs that only our runtime can read. That matters for search engines, for accessibility, and for the day you want to take your site somewhere else.

What downgrading actually does

If you downgrade, your site stays live. Features tied to the plan you left — a custom domain, the full SEO engine — pause until you come back. Nothing gets deleted and nothing gets held hostage. We think that's the only honest way to run a free tier.

The bet is simple: people stay with tools that respect them. We'd rather be chosen every month than be hard to leave.
